Lea Bender, 500-RYT, brings over twenty years of personal practice, a love of yoga philosophy and a background in circus, physical theater and Pilates to her teaching. She teaches a range of different styles from Vinyasa to Restorative, but at the root of every class is the intention to help students tap into the sacred nature of our human experience through connection to body and breath. In 2018, Lea took a leap and began teaching yoga full-time. She now teaches daily in a range of settings outside Jaya, from private homes and retreat centers to Rikers Island-where she volunteers every Friday with Liberation Prison Yoga. Lea is grateful to the many honorable teachers she has had the privilege of studying with, including Irene Dowd, Doug Keller, Tara Glazier, Yoganand Michael Carroll and Tara Brach. Lea is eternally thankful to Carla Stangenberg and Ramit Kreitner for creating Jaya Yoga Center, a place of learning, refuge and healing for our community - and her yoga home since 2011. Lea is also a passionate environmental advocate and writer. Learn more about Lea on her website: www.leabenderyoga.com.
